Dr. Ebonee F. Shaw

Term: April 2026 - April 2028

Elected April 7, 2026 to fill the Mayor unexpired term.

Dr. Ebonee F. Shaw was elected to her inaugural term as Mayor of the City of Berkeley in April 2026, fulfilling a lifelong dream of serving the community that raised her. As a pre-teen, she served on the Berkeley Youth Council, and today she is honored to lead the same city she has proudly called home for more than 45 years.

A lifelong resident of Berkeley, Mayor Shaw attended schools in the Ferguson-Florissant School District, including the original Berkeley High School on Walter Avenue. Prior to being elected Mayor, she served six years on the Berkeley Civil Service Board and three years on the Berkeley Betterment Commission, gaining valuable experience in municipal governance and community development.

Mayor Shaw brings more than 22 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, community engagement, and event management. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Xavier University of Louisiana, a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from University of New Orleans, and a Doctor of Business Administration with a specialization in Social Impact Management from Walden University.

Throughout her career, Mayor Shaw has raised more than $22 million to support initiatives benefiting communities in the St. Louis and New Orleans regions. She currently serves as Foundation Director and Alumni & Community Engagement Coordinator for the Ferguson-Florissant School District and as Director of Development for Tabernacle Community Development Corporation, where she has helped secure funding for transformative neighborhood revitalization and affordable housing initiatives.

As Mayor, Shaw is committed to building Berkeley's future through responsible economic development, neighborhood revitalization, housing preservation, public safety, and resident engagement. Her vision is to create a city where families choose to stay, businesses choose to invest, and every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

Mayor Shaw is the daughter of Judy-Ferguson Shaw and the late Ellis Jerome Shaw, sister to Dr. Mahauganee Shaw Bonds, and proud mother of Timothy M. Taylor III, a helicopter pilot, flight instructor, and Aviation major at Delaware State University. She remains dedicated to serving Berkeley with the same passion, pride, and commitment that have guided her throughout her life and career.
