Neighborhood Watch Program

Berkeley’s Neighborhood Watch is designed to enable the police and the community to work together in order to make neighborhoods more crime resistant. Members learn how to make their homes and neighborhoods more secure, watch out for each other, and report illegal or suspicious activities to the police.

The goal of Neighborhood Watch is to increase community awareness and concern among neighbors in order to reduce crime. The program allows the concerns of the neighborhood to be presented to the police department. Neighbors help each other by watching each other’s homes and reporting suspicious persons and activities. It also trains citizens in personal security strategies and serves as a social organization for the community.
