Term: May 2025 – April 2026 Filled Unexpired Term

Honorable Barbara J Holmes was appointed to represent Ward 1 residents by the City Council on May 19, 2025 to complete the unexpired term.

Mrs. Holmes moved to Berkeley in 1974 with her husband Oliver and raised seven children. She worked in the Finance / Accounting departments for several major companies throughout her career and retired from the City of Berkeley after 15 years.  Her service to the community began in 1999 as the City of Berkeley’s Accountant, and advanced through several positions retiring in 2014 as Assistant Finance Director / Finance Manager. She served on two boards with the City of Berkeley: Board of Adjustment as a member, and the Betterment Commission as the Treasurer. She also enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and she is an active member with the Show Me State Red Hat Ladies. She has been an active member of the community and have sought elected positions in the past.

Mrs. Holmes has had a desire to continue service to the community. She is honored to have been appointed to serve as your Ward 1 councilperson and will do her best to represent the residents of Ward 1.
