Police Records

Police reports are available through the Records Division as a convenience to victims. The primary goal of the Records Division when releasing police reports is to protect the rights of those individuals named in the report. As a result, police reports can be retrieved from the Records Division for the following persons:

Persons involved in the incident (victim, suspect, property owner); family members of persons involved in the incident if the person involved in the incident is deceased (death certificate required) or incompetent (statement from doctor on letterhead required); and witnesses to an incident.

Sunshine Record Requests & Subpoenas for Deposition

Please submit all Sunshine Record Requests online through our NextRequest portal at the following: https://cityofberkeleymo.nextrequest.com/

Police Reports

NOTE: Our Records Division is NOT handling requests for Moline Acres police records.  To obtain a copy of a police record for Moline Acres, please call Moline Acres Police Department at (314) 868-2433 ext. 721.

Police reports can take up to 10 days from the date of incident to be completed. It is recommended to ensure your report is available prior to submitting your record request and payment. To check the status of your report, please contact the Records Department at (314) 524-3311 opt 2.

Submit the completed form to the Records Department via fax to (314) 264-2197 or email to pdrecords@berkeleymo.us. 

NOTE: We have heard your concerns regarding the record request process.  We are currently working to streamline the process. In the meantime, if you are unable to complete the request form, simply email our records department pdrecords@berkeleymo.us with your name and report number. If you do not have the report number, please provide the incident type, date, time, and location.

You may also submit your request by mail to the Berkeley Police Department at 8340 Frost Avenue, Berkeley, MO 63134, ATTN: Records Department, or you may pick up a copy in person.

Please note there is a $10.00 fee for each report requested, with the exception of Call for Service* detail reports which are free of charge.

*The Call For Service detail page consists of the caller's information, incident date/time/location/type, responding officers, and disposition.

NOTE: If you submit a payment for a police report without submitting the request form, your request cannot be processed as we will not have your report number or your preferred method of receiving your report (i.e.: email, fax, or mail).

We accept cash, check, and credit/debit. A service fee may apply to all credit/debit card transactions.

We also offer an over-the-phone payment option for citizens that require assistance with making a payment; a service fee may apply for all payments processed by phone.

NOTE: The $10.00 fee does not apply to other law enforcement or government agencies, utility companies, medical facilities, or senior citizens (age 60 & up).

Vehicle Release Forms

NOTE: Our lobby is back open to the public but you may continue to obtain your vehicle release form by emailing color copies of your proof of ownership, valid photo ID, and any additional information that may be needed to pdrecords@berkeleymo.us.

If you're vehicle has been towed by the Berkeley Police Department for any reason prior to May 16, 2023, your vehicle was towed by Doc's Towing, 2810 Walton Rd., St. Louis, MO 63114 (314) 503-5119.

If you're vehicle has been towed by the Berkeley Police Department for any reason on or after May 16, 2023, your vehicle will be towed by All American Towing, LLC, 6400 Spencer Ave., St. Louis, MO 63133 (314) 726-1122.

In order to have your vehicle released from either tow company, you must first obtain a Vehicle Release Form from our Records Department.

You will need to bring the following items to the station to obtain your release form:

  • Proof of ownership such as title or registration
  • We will accept your application for title or bill of sale as proof of ownership if your vehicle was purchased within the last 60 days of the tow date
  • Valid Photo ID

If the owner of the vehicle cannot be present, please bring a notarized letter of consent from the owner authorizing you to pick up the vehicle release form on their behalf in addition to the title/registration/bill of sale and a valid photo of the person picking up the release.

If an insurance company or another tow company is picking up the release on the owner's behalf, please have a Hold Harmless letter in addition to the proof of ownership and valid photo ID.

Tickets

If you need a copy of a traffic citation or a general summons, please email pdrecords@berkeleymo.us with your full name, date of incident, and location of the incident.

You can pay your fines online at https://www.ipaycourt.com/frmCitationSearch.aspx?ori=Berkeley.

If you are unable to pay your fines online or have any questions regarding the fees, please contact our Courts Department at (314) 524-3313 or Courts@berkeleymo.us.

You can visit our Courts Department at the Berkeley City Hall located at 8425 Airport Rd., Berkeley, MO 63134.

NOTE: If you need to obtain a copy of a ticket for a housing/building ordinance violation (tickets beginning with the letter "H"), please contact our Courts Department.

Bond Payments

If you need to make a payment for a warrant, please visit the Berkeley Police Department at 8340 Frost Ave, Berkeley, MO 63134. Use the lobby phone to speak with a Dispatcher and an officer will be out to assist you with your payment. We only accept CASH payments for bonds. If you have a question regarding your bond amount, please call (314) 524-3311 to speak with an Operator/Dispatcher. The Records Department does not have information regarding bonds.

Background Checks

If you are submitting a background check for employment, you may submit your request via fax to (314) 264-2197 or via email to pdrecords@berkeleymo.us.
